A fun loving company like Konekt would not miss a single opportunity when it comes to celebrating and we celebrated the Sinhala and Tamil New Year in style. Keeping in mind that the team members need to do the same with their family, Konekt advanced the date to the 10^th of April 2017 and decided to couple Avurudu Celebrations with the company trip.

So what did we do?

The recreations team which goes as the Konekt Club Group was asked to come up with potential options for the company trip and it was unanimously agreed that the trip covers the following criteria

• Celebrating Avurudu and having our own Avurudu games
• A cricket match to be played before or after the games
• A swimming pool to chill once the sports and games are over
• Private place with a good view not too far away from Colombo
• And good food to satisfy everyone’s taste buds

It was not easy to find a place where all of the above could be done and that too in a day but it was not impossible either. Online searches, asking recommendations, checking reviews, calling friends and there, we finally had the place we wanted – SANTA LUCIA ISLAND. This a beautiful island surrounded by other nearby islands and is a quiet and calm place just around 45 minutes from the city of Colombo going at a reasonable rate.

The company staff had good fun and enjoyed every bit of it. From Avurudu games to playing cricket to chilling in the pool to having dinner and eventually going in the for the new year celebrations was truly an experience to remember.
