How Konekt Built Shirohana Flowers a Custom Shopify Platform with Vendor, Loyalty, and Delivery Automation

Shirohana Flowers needed more than a new storefront — a flower delivery business runs on multi-vendor coordination, strict preparation and cut-off times, and products that are only available in certain delivery areas. Konekt migrated Shirohana to Shopify and built the custom systems around it: automated vendor notifications, advanced order scheduling, location-based product availability, a custom bouquet builder, and integrations with Karts Loyalty and Karts Delivery.

Overview

Shirohana Flowers sells and delivers flowers and gift arrangements sourced from multiple vendors across several service areas. Their existing platform could support basic online orders, but it couldn't handle the operational reality of the business: products supplied by different vendors, delivery only available to four service areas, fulfillment locations that varied by product, and an order process governed by preparation times, cut-offs, and holiday schedules.

Shirohana engaged Konekt to migrate the business to Shopify and build the custom functionality needed to run a multi-vendor, multi-location flower business on top of it — from vendor order notifications and delivery-area-aware product catalogues to a loyalty programme, delivery management, and a bouquet builder that lets customers create their own arrangements.

The challenge

Before the engagement, Shirohana's online operations faced several connected problems:

  • The existing platform lacked the flexibility and integrations needed to support online sales growth and digital marketing.
  • Shirohana sells products supplied by multiple vendors, but had no automated way to notify the relevant vendor when one of their products was ordered.
  • The flower delivery business runs on strict preparation timelines, order cut-off times, and holiday schedules — none of which the platform could enforce.
  • Repeat purchases and loyalty were hard to encourage without a structured rewards programme.
  • In-house delivery operations and order fulfillment were coordinated manually.
  • Products are only deliverable to four service areas, and some products are available from only one or two fulfillment locations — so customers could end up ordering items that couldn't actually be fulfilled or delivered to their address.
  • There was no way to offer a personalised, build-your-own arrangement experience to lift average order value.

Our approach

Konekt treated the rebuild as a platform migration plus a set of operational systems built around it:

Shopify migration. Konekt migrated Shirohana's online store to Shopify, giving the business a scalable platform with native support for marketing integrations and future growth.

Custom vendor notification system. Konekt built and integrated a vendor notification platform with Shopify, so that whenever an order containing a vendor's products is placed, that vendor is automatically notified with the relevant order details — removing manual order forwarding entirely.

Advanced order scheduling. Konekt implemented custom order management logic covering preparation times, delivery cut-off times, holiday scheduling, and delivery date validation, so customers can only select delivery dates and times that Shirohana can actually fulfil.

Location-based product availability. Since Shirohana delivers to four service areas and some products are only available from specific fulfillment locations, Konekt built a custom solution that dynamically controls which products a customer can see and buy based on their selected delivery location and each product's assigned fulfillment location.

What we built

With the operational foundation in place, Konekt layered on the systems that drive retention and order value:

Loyalty programme integration. Konekt integrated the Karts Loyalty platform, enabling Shirohana to run point accumulation, rewards, and retention campaigns for repeat customers.

Delivery and fulfillment integration. Konekt integrated Karts Delivery to streamline order fulfillment and manage Shirohana's in-house delivery operations, reducing manual coordination between order processing and dispatch.

Custom flower bouquet builder. To increase engagement and average order value, Konekt developed a bouquet builder that lets customers select individual flowers and build their own custom arrangement directly on the storefront.

Results

The Shopify migration gave Shirohana a modern, marketing-ready e-commerce platform to support online sales growth.

Vendor communication is now automated — vendors are notified directly whenever an order containing their products is placed, cutting out manual order processing. Order scheduling, cut-offs, and holiday rules are enforced automatically, so customers can only book deliveries within Shirohana's real operational constraints, and the location-based availability system ensures customers only see products that can actually be delivered to their chosen area.

On the customer side, the Karts Loyalty integration gives Shirohana a structured way to reward repeat customers, the Karts Delivery integration has streamlined fulfillment and in-house delivery coordination, and the custom bouquet builder gives customers a personalised way to build their own arrangements — opening up a new upselling opportunity. Together, these pieces give Shirohana a scalable e-commerce foundation built around how their flower delivery business actually operates.
